THE ASK
Optus had a group of potential customers with whom it had interacted (perhaps at a trade show or through a sales call) but hadn’t yet partnered. Optus isn’t just another vendor but rather an extension of its existing IT team. We aimed to demonstrate how Optus can simplify its customers’ busy lives by providing a customized IT package that tackles its specific business needs.
THE how
As part of the in-house marketing team at Optus, we gained valuable insights into the IT industry. To position Optus as a trusted partner, we considered our target audience’s demographics and decided a sports theme would resonate most. Drawing inspiration from modern sports magazines, we developed a visually striking print campaign that stayed true to the Optus brand.
To ensure this wasn’t a generic marketing push, we took an extra step. We conducted a small focus group of Optus’ biggest sports fans to understand what items would be most valuable for attendees. Based on their feedback, we included a small rolling cooler and stadium blanket in the campaign package.
Finally, to go the extra mile, we wanted to make sure that our clients knew this wasn’t a spray-and-pray marketing effort. When the receiver opens the box, they see a piece of turf with their logo spray painted on the top, just as you would see at a major football event.
